Each year, SPE surveys its professional members to benchmark global compensation trends in the industry. The 2013 SPE Membership Salary Survey Data File is a sample of self-reported information from petroleum industry professionals with responses from a sample of industry professionals worldwide. This year's participants are based in 100 countries. Their employers are based in 105 countries, and 46 U.S. states.

 

Invitations to participate in the Annual SPE Salary Survey were successfully sent to 64,066 professional members via e-mail on 3 July 2013. 7,522 members provided valid responses, resulting in a 11% response rate. This sample of completed responses produces a margin of error of ± 1.06% at a 95 percent confidence level. It is a sample of self-reported information from petroleum industry professionals, with responses from a sample of industry professionals worldwide. It is not a definitive source of data for making compensation decisions, but it can be a useful reference where sufficient data exists.
